The booking of tatkal tickets in the morning is always been a toughest job. But irctc has tried to make it a little bit easier, it has added two high-capacity servers that will doubled the peak-time efficiency. The servers have already started working since 1st June. IRCTC is saying that, “it will raise the booking capacity from 7,200 to 14,000 tickets per minute.
IRCTC is saying, “The positive results are already showing”. “As around 55% train tickets in the country are booked through IRCTC website, server should be able to handle that much traffic”.
In 2002, IRCTC had introduced e-ticketing and the website was first upgraded in April 2014, facilitating 1,50,000 concurrent users at a time. But this also failed at the time of Tatkal Booking especially at the time of summers. Again IRCTC has upgraded by setting two HP Itanium servers which will now help in raising the capacity of concurrent connections to 3,00,000.
With the addition of these two new servers, IRCTC has now 17 servers while the existing 1.4 GB bandwidth has increased by 25 percent.
