Sania Mirza becomes World no.1 in Tennis Doubles

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza made a history when she becomes first Indian woman tennis player to get the top position in WTA ranking in double competition. After winning Family Circle Cup with her Swiss partner Martina Hingis, Sania reached to that position.

In the Family Circle Cup final, Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis defeated Casey Dellacqua and Darija Jurak by 6-0, 6-4 to achieve the title. They took only 57 minutes in final.

India defeated Korea to win bronze medal in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup

Indian Hockey team gave nation another moment to be proud by beating Korea 4-1 in the penalty shoot-out after both the teams made a tie at 2-2 at actual time, which gave India third position in the 24th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament on Sunday.
India had earlier drawn 2-2 with Korea in the league stages, and on Saturday they stunned world champions Australia with a 4-2 win at the Azlan Shah Stadium.

Saina Nehwal will be absent in Singapore Open

Saina Nehwal has withdrawn from Singapore Open Super Series badminton tournament to regain her energies after playing for the last few weeks.

In last one month she played in the All England Championship, India Open Super Series and Malaysia Open Super Series Premier. She reached the finals at Birmingham and New Delhi.

Australia, the last time champion had to try hard to defeat Malaysia with 3-2 in the 24th Sultan Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament on Monday.

On the other side Korea won their match more easily against Canada with 3-1.

It was not an easy match for defending champion Australia who struggled in the first half for their first goal and finally able to score in the 43rd minute from a penalty stroke.
