Second round of French Open singles was not that easy for Roger Federer when his match against Spain's Marcel Granollers went to third round and Federer had to play hard to win the third one. As expected two times French Open champion Serena Williams started her this year's journey in French Open in her own style by thrashing her first's match's opponent Czech qualifier Andrea Hlavackova by 6-2 6-3 on Tuesday.

Almost a good day for Indian tennis players in French Open doubles tournament. Except Mahesh Bhupathi other three player Sania Mirza, Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna won their first round in French Open doubles with their respective partners.
In women doubles of French Open top seeded Sania and Martina Hingis had a totally one sided match which they dominated by 6-3, 6-0 win against Germany's Julia Goerges and Barbora Krejcikova. Indo-Swiss combination won 70 per cent of the first serve points.
On the other side in men's doubles, Leander Paes with his Canadian partner Daniel Nestor had a hard fight against Australian pair of James Duckworth and Chris Guccione to reach to the second round of the tournament. For the first time India going to host U-17 World Cup tournament in 2017.
An official FIFA team including Jaimie Yarza (head of events) and Kelly Sathiraj (head of competitions) and Colin Smith (FIFA's director of competitions) has visited India to see the preparation and to guide local organizing committee on a short trip.
“We are on a short trip and the purpose is to get acquainted with the local organizing committee and brief them on the task ahead and exchange notes” said Smith during a media interaction on Thursday.
As per the rule the prepared stadiums will have to be handed over to FIFA a year before the start of the tournament.
The stocktaking on infrastructure development will take place during their second visit. “There will be an inspection of the pitches and the stadia by the end of this year,”
In this competition 24 teams will participate and total 52 matches will played which will hosted by 6 different venues in India.
The visiting officials discussed with the local organizing committee members how to make the existing infrastructure as per the compliant of FIFA.
