India’s glory run continues in Hockey World League as they defeated France in the first match of the FIH Hockey World League semifinals at Antwerp, Belgium on Saturday.
India’s performance was at top in the practice matches of the tournament and they continued that run but it was a tough fight for them which they managed to win with a thrilling 3-2.
France started well and able to give first shock to India in just 3rd minute of the match by taking the lead. Olivier Sanhez struck that goal. But India fought back by scoring two back to back goals before half time to make the score 2-1.
In the second half France’s strikers were too much attacking, for which they got rewarded with their second goal by Simon Marin. In the fourth quarter both teams got their chances and it was Sardar Singh’s brilliance two minutes before the close of that eventually made the difference.
But before end of the match Ramandeep Singh gave India the winning third goal.
