Expectedly Argentina advanced to quarter-finals of Copa America 2015 by defeating Jamaica 1-0 on Saturday.
It was Argentina captain Lionel Messi’s 100th appearance for his nation, and Gonzalo Higuain’s only goal in the match made this match memorable for Messi and Argentina reached to quarter-finals as a group leader.
Although Napoli striker Higuain struck in just 11th minute of the match and gave his team a vital lead in the match and first half was dominated by them. On 22nd minute Higuain almost struck again but it went over the bar. After that Messi, Higuain and Angel Di Maria created multiple chance to increase the lead but could not make that chances to goal.
But 2014 World Cup finalist Argentina’s performance was not like their standard and they had to do hard work to keep that lead and struggled a lot to break defence of World number 65th Jamaica specially in the second half.
Argentina coach Gerardo Martino admitted that and blamed weariness as a reason.
