Federer and Ivanovic advanced to third round of French Open

Second round of French Open singles was not that easy for Roger Federer when his match against Spain's Marcel Granollers went to third round and Federer had to play hard to win the third one. He won the second round match by 6-2, 7-6(1), 6-3 on Wednesday. In third round Switzerland's Roger Federer will now face Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus or Bosnian Damir Dzumhur who will fight in their second round match.

17th times Grand Slam winner Federer has not won a major grand slam since Wimbledon in 2012.

On the another match in women's singles Former champion Ana Ivanovic just able to avoid the loss in her second round at the French Open against Japanese player Misaki Doi on Wednesday.

The seventh seed Ivanovic who won the French Open title in 2008, lost her first set in front of much lower ranked Misaki Doi but overcome in second and third set to avoid an unexpected defeat. Ivanovic won the match by 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Ivanovic will face Croatian teenager Donna Vekic in the third round.

Serena Williams and Wozniacki thrashed their opponents to advance in the next round

As expected two times French Open champion Serena Williams started her this year's journey in French Open in her own style by thrashing her first's match's opponent Czech qualifier Andrea Hlavackova by 6-2 6-3 on Tuesday.

If she will be able to make it this year this will be her 20th single grand slam.

Hlavackova's success was just to break Serena's serve in the fifth game. In the second round Hlavackova fought little better but not enough in front of world's no. 1.
In another match Fifth seed Caroline Wozniacki dominated a totally one sided match against Italy's Karin Knapp by 6-3, 6-0. It was a storm from Wozniacki who never gone beyond the quarterfinals in French Open. But initially she look out of form and struggled to find her rhythm. But in the second set Karin Knapp just could not get any chance as she made a total of 50 unforced errors.

Caroline Wozniacki is now going to face Germany's Julia Goerges who defeated USA's Coco Vandeweghe in a long game by 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.

Almost a good day for Indian tennis players in French Open doubles tournament. Except Mahesh Bhupathi other three player Sania Mirza, Leander Paes and Rohan Bopanna won their first round in French Open doubles with their respective partners.

In women doubles of French Open top seeded Sania and Martina Hingis had a totally one sided match which they dominated by 6-3, 6-0 win against Germany's Julia Goerges and Barbora Krejcikova. Indo-Swiss combination won 70 per cent of the first serve points.

On the other side in men's doubles, Leander Paes with his Canadian partner Daniel Nestor had a hard fight against Australian pair of James Duckworth and Chris Guccione to reach to the second round of the tournament. They won it by 6-2, 5-7, 7-5. Paes and Daniel Nestor dominated in the first round but in the second game Australian duo fought back and won it; in the third one Paes-Nestor they used their experiences to come back and won the match. Paes and Nestor saved three of the five breakpoints that came their way. Now they will face the winner of another first round match between Eric Butorac-Sam Groth and Andre Begemann-Julian Knowle.

England won the first test match against New Zealand

England won the first test match against New Zealand in Lord's on the final day.

It was England captain Alastair Cook and Ben Stokes who showed England the winning path.

New Zealand who chose to field first on the first day, bowled excellently in the first inning of England and were able to restrict England's score to 389 runs Joe Root (98 runs), Ben Stokes (92 runs), Jos Buttler (67 runs) and Moeen Ali (58 runs) had major contribution in the score. Boult and Matt Henry took 4 wickets each.

On 2nd day New Zealand batsmen were excellent too and they made a huge score of 523 runs. Except Corey Anderson all top 7 batsmen scored a decent runs. Kane Williamson was highest run scorer with 132. Guptill (70 runs), Ross Taylor ( 62 runs), Watling (61 runs), Latham (59 runs) and NZ captain Brendon McCullum (42 runs) are the major run scorer.

After trail by 134 runs England batted better than first innings specially Cook (161 runs) , Joe Root (84 runs) and Ben Stokes (101 runs) who pushed England's score to 478 runs.

Zimbabwe fought well but lost 1st one day match in 3 match series against Pakistan played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. It was a high scoring match where Pakistan won the toss and elected bat first, scored huge 375 runs with loss of 3 wickets in 50 overs and in reply Zimbabwe's score was more unexpected, they scored 341 runs and lost the match by just 41 runs.

Pakistan to four batsmen made 75+ runs. Openers Mohammad Hafeez and captain Azhar Ali made a stand of 170 runs in 26 overs before Azhar got out in 79 runs, Hafeez also followed him just after 4 runs, he made 86 runs with 8 fours and 4 sixes.

After that Shoaib Malik and Haris Sohail continued with much aggressive way. They built up 201 runs of partnership in just 23 overs. Haris Sohail was not out in 89 runs from 66 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes on the other hand Shoaib Malik made 112 runs in 76 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixes but he got out in the last of the inning. India will host SA in all form of cricket this year

India is going to host South Africa in a full cricket series in coming October. South Africa will start the tour with four match test series followed by an ODI series of five matches and after that India will face SA in 3 T20 matches.

Although the exact date have not been revealed yet by BCCI but they have announced the month and the venue.

The Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) announced the venue in their official twitter account.

BCCI announced that test series will be played in Oct-Nov months and Ahmedabad, Delhi, Nagpur and Bangalore will host matches.
