Serena Williams still in top place, Lucie Safarova into top 10

Lucie Safarova who was the French Open runner-up was in excellent form in this French Open. No she has entered into the WTA world top 10 for the first time.

Safarova lost the final of French Open 2015 against world number one Serena Williams and she has moved up to seventh position in WTA ranking.
French Open winner Serena Williams still in top place while last time winner Maria Sharapova slipped to fourth place from second in the ranking. Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova replaced Maria Sharapova in second position and Simona Halep is in third.

Barcelona won Champions League, defeated Juventus by 3-1

FC Barcelona became the kings of Europe for the fifth times in history by beating Juventus in Champions League final at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday. Barcelona won the match by 3-1.

This has been a fabulous season for Barcelona, which completed with the Champions League including La Liga and King's Cup. Luis Enrique, who was the coach for Barcelona this season for the first time, ended season in a memorable style.

Rafael Nadal missed to watch the French Open final

Master of clay court Rafael Nadal said that he was so busy in his training that he could not watch the French Open final this year in which Stan Wawrinka was in dream form that he defeated Novak Djokovic at Roland Garros on Sunday.

Nadal told: “I didn't watch the match, I was training.”, he is in Germany for grass court training.

“Starting on grass is always difficult. I'm going to try to play my best, to train as much as possible today (Monday), tomorrow and Wednesday for my first match.”

Nadal who won the French Open title nine times in his career, faced a defeat against Djokovic in quarter final of this year's tournament and interest fact is this was his just second loss in 72 matches in Paris since his 2005 debut

Regarding the defeat he commented that the loss was “now part of the past”.

“I must improve any level of tennis, my intensity on the court. If I can do that I'm confident that I can return to my best level.

“I'm making my debut on grass two weeks before Wimbledon, I hope that's going to help.”

Wawrinka is no. 4 in ATP world rankings, Nadal slipped to no. 10

French Open champion of 2015 Stan Wawrinka has got his “rank award” for his dream form in French Open. He has moved up five places in the official ATP world rankings. He is now in number four in ranking released on Monday.

The final match against world number one Novak Djokovic was a dream match for Wawrinka which he described as “the match of my life”.

But previous world number one and master in clay court Spain's Rafael Nadal who has faced a defeat in quarter-final of the tournament against Novak Djokovic, slipped to number 10 in ATP world rankings which his lowest in last 10 years.

19 times Grand Slam champion Serena Williams reached to the French Open Final by defeating Timea Bacsinszky, but she had to fight not only against Bacsinszky but also with the over heat in the court and also with her illness. Due to illness and tiredness Serena lost the first set to Bacsinszky by 4-6.

When crowd was waiting for another unexpected result the world number one and Paris champion in 2002 and 2013 fought back like a champion and thrashed a 6-3, 6-0 win in second and third set. It was her 10 semi-final win in a row which she finally won by 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.

In the 29 degree heat , Williams demanded more and more ice-towels during changeovers and Williams's coughing spurts became so loud that they echoed around the arena courtesy of the courtside microphones.

“I kept trying to find the energy and keep fighting. I wasn't feeling well,” said Williams
Serena Williams now will face Czech 13th seed Lucie Safarova, who defeated former French Open champion Ana Ivanovic by 7-5, 7-5 in French Open champion on Saturday.

Lucie Safarova reached to French Open final for the first time

Another stunning performance by Lucie Safarova who reached her first Grand Slam final by defeating former champion Ana Ivanovic in a one almost one sided French Open Semi-finals.

Safarova, who never reached to quarter final before this year, won the semi-final match by 7-5, 7-5.

Ivanovic was the champion at Roland Garros as a 20-year-old in 2008 but she struggled a lot to reach to the semis.

On the other side Safarova had not dropped a set in the tournament, winning five straight tie-breaks, one of those coming in the first set against defending champion Maria Sharapova.

Safarova became the first Czech woman to reach the French Open final after Hana Mandlikova won the title in 1981.

“It's a dream come true. I still cannot believe it,” she said “I started too slowly, but I tried to pick up my level and started to play really aggressively because that was the only way to get the win.”

Lucie Safarova will now face top seeded and the 19-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams in the French Open Final. Williams's record against Safarova is 8-0.
