England won the first test match against New Zealand in Lord’s on the final day.
It was England captain Alastair Cook and Ben Stokes who showed England the winning path.
New Zealand who chose to field first on the first day, bowled excellently in the first inning of England and were able to restrict England’s score to 389 runs Joe Root (98 runs), Ben Stokes (92 runs), Jos Buttler (67 runs) and Moeen Ali (58 runs) had major contribution in the score. Boult and Matt Henry took 4 wickets each.
On 2nd day New Zealand batsmen were excellent too and they made a huge score of 523 runs. Except Corey Anderson all top 7 batsmen scored a decent runs. Kane Williamson was highest run scorer with 132. Guptill (70 runs), Ross Taylor ( 62 runs), Watling (61 runs), Latham (59 runs) and NZ captain Brendon McCullum (42 runs) are the major run scorer.
After trail by 134 runs England batted better than first innings specially Cook (161 runs) , Joe Root (84 runs) and Ben Stokes (101 runs) who pushed England’s score to 478 runs.
